Yes, I think she can dance
The #1 downloaded dance track on iTunes at the moment (and indeed for most of the summer) is a song called “Just Dance” by an extremely talented young performer who goes by the name Lady Gaga (pictured above, left).
Lady Gaga and her two backup dancers, collectively known as the Haus of Gaga, were recently asked to perform on the crazy-popular Fox TV series “So You Think You Can Dance?”, and that performance aired just two nights ago. According to informal online research of recent Nielsen ratings, the show regularly attracts around 8 million viewers each week.
It was a killer performance and it’s likely to catapult Lady Gaga into yet another realm of popularity and stardom.
So why do I mention it here on BIOR?
Not because I follow the dance charts (which I don’t) or because I am a die-hard fan of SYTYCD (which I’m not).
Not even because Lady Gaga’s first two words on “Just Dance” are “red wine” (which they probably aren’t—most lyric sites online transcribe the line “Red One,” the name of the song’s producer, although I could swear she’s saying, “red wine”).
No, I mention it here because I’m damn proud of one particular resident of the Haus of Gaga: the Lady’s key back-up dancer, Melissa aka “Dina” (she’s the tall one in the video and pictured above, right), whom I’ve known for several years, who has kept the faith in L.A. despite the hardships, and who happens also to be engaged to my brother, Pablo.
Rock on, girl.

Sure did. In San Fran. Lady Gaga gave me a great big hug, and my friends and I got to enter the club through the back, with the talent. Very groovy. Thanks for your comment and I hope to enjoy another poolside drink with you soon!
